It was like nails on a chalk board trying to get through this book. The book is trying way to hard to be cool, which doesn't give it that "staying" power and will probably be quickly outdated in a few years. However, if you know any young readers who really like the DC Super Hero Girls they would be okay with this book. Wonder Woman herself as a character in this book is really optimistic and very naive, to a fault, and the majority of the rest of the cast is either bland or annoying, which made reading this books a struggle. The plus side is that there is a lot of diverse characters and it depicts girls being powerful and heroic. But on the other side of the coin, the book also portrays girls as being catty, manipulative, and mean. Perhaps other books in the series would be better, this one just wasn't my cup of tea. But again, if you know a reader who loves DC Super Hero Girls this book will probably be up their alley. It would be interesting to know their thoughts and how the books compare to the show.
I heard about this series through Twitter and I knew I just had to check it out. And boy, I am glad I did. There were some bumps in the road that weren't fun, but most of this book was fantastic.
This book is all about Wonder Woman who decides to leave her home island and go to Super Hero High to learn all about being a superhero. Which she already is, but she wants to learn new things, make friends, and much much more. She wants to become better. She is really driven to proof to her parents, but also her peers and teachers, that she is truly Wonder Woman.
She was a really interesting, and fun character, and I loved how she went through her school life. She really grows as the story goes on, from a girl who barely knows about life outside of Paradise Island, to a girl who is strong, has her wits with her, and who has made friends.
There were just 2 things I didn't like about her, and that made me feel a bit frustrated. How she didn't seem to understand the littlest things, how she took everything literal, how she just seemed so dumb. Yes, she was sheltered, but this is beyond sheltered, this was just wth how did you ever survive life so far if you can't even grasp that!
The second thing I didn't like was how selfish she was at times. Like with the monthly superhero thing? How she just knew it had to be her. How with the triathlon she just didn't get the hint. And several other instances. Sure, she is also selfless and will do anything for everyone, but this just seemed odd and weird. I hope she learned a lesson about humility from her time at the school. She needs that.
I so loved all the characters in this book, the good guys, the bad guys. Harley (or Harlequin), Green Lantern, Cheetah, Beast Boy, and so so so many more. It was a delight and I just kept squealing when a new character popped up and got introduced. We also have several human or non-superhero people that are known to all. Lois Lane, Barbara Gordon for instance!
It was such a delight, and I do hope we will meet many more superheroes, and villains as this series go on.
Not only do we see the teens, but we also see adult heroes as Hippolyta, Superman.
The lessons, the school, it was all so much fun, and I would love to participate in all of them. To learn how to make uniforms, learn about superhero history, do fly tricks, solve Riddler's riddles, dodge Harley's camera, and much more. It all sounds awesome, though also very intense. I can imagine the kids are under pressure, and I wish that more people in this book knew that, instead of judging the characters based on what they saw on Harley's feed.
I didn't like how the mystery of who did the threats was handled, or actually the revelation on who did it. The mystery itself was interesting, and I was curious to find out who did it. I had a few suspects, and I set out to find out who it was.
The person who did it, well she was on my list. :D
But how it was solved, I will put this under spoiler tags.
But all in all, this was terrific book and I can't wait for the next books. Super Girl is up next and I am excited to learn more about that character!
If you love superheroes, if you want to know more about them, be sure to check this one out!

Spoiler
Magically, just magically Wonder Woman knows how has done and also has a whole explanation on the why's and how's. Sorry, but that was just unbelievable. There was no clue that Wonder Woman knew who did it, she kept worrying about it, and all of the sudden, at the last pages she knows? HAHAHAH, I don't believe that one bit.But all in all, this was terrific book and I can't wait for the next books. Super Girl is up next and I am excited to learn more about that character!

Ugh, I have such high hopes when I read of something that has Wonder Woman as the protagonist. Again, I'm disappointed. This time, it frustrated me how clueless she was as a new high schooler. Perhaps it's so the girls reading this can relate to her,but it just made herself weak to me. Almost gave it 2 stars, but the ending bumped her up 1 more
Overplays the "fish out of water" to a degree where WW comes across as dangerously slow on the uptake and incapable of basic contextual intuition, but I can see how the humor would work for the audience on the younger side of the target. Also, OH MY HEART STEVE TREVOR!
A bit on the "cutesy" side - but it works. I've watched a lot of the SuperHero High videos and this title is a fabulous extension. (And yes, I know Harley and Ivy are villains in the "real world" but I like how they are portrayed here, too)
I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would. It just seemed to bounce around a lot.
Eleanor liked this one because she loves wonder woman. But I was so confused why wonder woman was portrayed as not understanding idioms, and taking literally everything, well, literally. Just because she was raised away from men doesn't mean she was raised away from people. And I think her mom probably would've called her princess Diana and not Wonder Woman.
Eleanor says: five stars. I didn’t like how cheetah and her friends were mean to Wonder Woman and tricking her. Harley is funny and always recording videos for her website. She shows the super heroes’ mistakes and Wonder Woman gets worried that her mom will make her leave. Wonder Woman helps the team win and super girl comes to school at the end.

Okay, so why on earth did I read this? I will tell you why. Because I have spent the summer babysitting a reader and she told me to. Don't ask me why I am using my free time to satisfy the whims of an eleven year old, except that enthusiasm is infectious and it makes her so happy when I can join in the conversation. So read this I did. It was cute. This series is kind of cute. But as an adult comics fan it does sort of drive me a little nuts sometimes. This book centered on Wonder Woman as she makes her way to Super Hero High School and learns the ropes and a whole slew of potential heroes.
My one thing that I just can't even with is that they call each other by their super hero names all the time. At one point Wonder Woman feels like the "Woman" part of her name is cumbersome, as she's still a girl, so they try to think up a nickname. They go with "Wondy". I am not even kidding. Wondy. Why not call her, I don't know... Diana?
