Wish I read it 15 years ago- it was a missing link

Really interesting premise and a lot to think about. Many of the points ring true, but there are some conclusions that are stretched beyond the capacity of the data they present. I'll be taking some, but not all, of this with me to think about as I go through my motherhood journey.

Wow! I was told by someone I respect that this is the best parenting book out there, which surprised me, so I had to read it. It is so different from any other parenting book I’ve read! I absolutely loved it and found it so fascinating. It was written about 30 years ago (but has been updated and revised) and has stood the test of time - actually I think it’s become more relevant. It caused me to see whole new perspectives and created so many lightbulb moments. It made me to think deeply about important things. It is long - but such an interesting and important book.
DNF too repetitive and whiny about how the past was better

Provides meaning and insight into how parents and other well meaning adults can build/rebuild connections with the children in their lives. Can help adults gain awareness of their own attachment challenges, very practical for those in the mental health field.
