disclaimer if you’ve read other reviews by me and are noticing a pattern: You’re correct that I don’t really give starred reviews because I don’t like leaving them. Most often, I will only leave them if I vehemently despised a book.
I enjoy most books for what they are, & I extract lessons from them all. Everyone’s reading experiences are subjective, so I hope my reviews provide enough information to let you know if a book is for you or not, regardless if I add stars or not.

This was a darker, much more intense follow up to Bittersweet Surrender. I am pretty sure the premise mentions this but Will’s past struggles come into play in this book, and a light is shone on them, especially in finally divulging this information to his new live-in girlfriend Charley.
They also must deal with the aftermath of their affair — the internal review board of psychologists/doctors (??? Look, I never claimed to be an expert reviewer lmao) is investigating Will, and they will decide if his license will be stripped. Charlotte’s ex, Matt, is clearly out to make their lives miserable. Will’s parents are not fans of Charlotte, but Will has strained relationships with each of them (his father is a lawyer and helps them nevertheless). Will’s brother Drew & Charlotte’s friend Lauren are back in action, & probably my favorite characters hahaha. Charley & Will are navigating being a couple out in the open finally & curious to see if the novelty will wear off. A *lot* is going on!
Anyway, I thought the topics of alcoholism, codependency, therapists having therapists, & not repeating familial dynamics was fleshed out pretty well, & it was a satisfying ending to Charley & Will’s story!
Still very steamy! 🌶️ 4/5

The second half of this duet was just as captivating as the first. The chemistry between Charley and Will is undeniable and I gobble it up. I enjoyed seeing them struggle with Wills addiction and overcome it. I loved that all the main players got fresh starts. Overall I thought this ended their story in such a positive way. The whole story was so tense with how Will and Charley started their relationship and seeing them end on a high note warmed my heart 🩷
