I wasn't ready for this book - it is a small book with some big emotions to process. At it's core I think it speaks the the value of being neighborly and initiating friend relationships. Loved it
4 stars. This was a beautiful and short read. King really managed to deliver a novella with a powerful emotional punch. I had no idea what this was about going in and I think that's for the best. Just go in and enjoy the ride.
My heart hurt for Scott but man was he a strong person. He's a very sweet character and I had no trouble rooting for him and empathizing with what he was going through. I love the relationship he developed with DeeDee and her wife and how close they became in the end.
The ending is heartbreaking and also kind of terrifying when you really think about it. This review is super vague but I really don't want to give anything away but I do really recommend this.

This book was very short, but extremely emotional. I like the development of all the characters. It's about a small town guy who is mysteriously losing weight but still stays the same shape, and a lesbian couple trying to keep their restaurant afloat in a small conservative town. I will say that it felt a little preachy when it came to the discussion of the women's acceptance in the small town, and yet it still felt very realistic somehow. The ending was extremely emotional and had me slightly teary eyed. It's not the most amazing work from Stephen King, but it's very good nonetheless.
Kills me to say that this is by far the worst written Stephen king book I’ve read, it was painful. 80% through and could not take it anymore

What a strange little book. I wouldn't say that I was enjoying it, but it did make me reflect on my life. It found me at the right time for it to be worth reading. Elevation will give you something to ponder now and then. Or you'll say "well that was odd" and then move on to your next book.
