This is an overall absurd story with the basic premise of "straight white man discovers neighborhood lesbians are also just people". Between the sexualizing of the lesbian characters and the main character's need to literally save the women, it's pretty hard to get through. Maybe if this was written in 1995 it would be timely, but it feels like an old work that didn't age well, except it was written in 2018. Honestly, this seems like a genuine attempt to write queer characters by someone who has met one lesbian once. As far as terrible portraits of queer people go, we've certainly had worse representation, but still, c'mon man. Maybe this is written for straight people who have just met their first queer person and don't know how to feel about it; that seems like the perfect audience for this book. If the main plot outside of the lesbian couple's side-story was interesting, new (Thinner, 1984), or even resolved, I would be giving this at least another star. It's worth a read to get a good laugh, and then go read something actually deserving of being included in an LGBTQ category.
You’re not even gonna tell me how he got that way???

A heartwarming story about how people can change their hearts and minds but a stark reminder of how it is often too little too late.

Unique, interesting. I believe King’s talent is in his unique ability to make the mundane sound appealing. The story was bizarre but enjoyable. Great book.

This novella and the short story "Laurie" are quite a departure from King's typical writing. No killer clowns. No gunslingers. No pandemics. Instead, they read more like A Man Called Ove with a focus on the bittersweetness of reconnecting with life.
I enjoyed this slender little tale. It’s interesting how much King yearns for a gang. From Stand By Me to It, the gang seems to be his holy ideal.
Muy alejado de el terror que el autor maneja, este libro no es de terror, es una historia hermosa y emotiva sobre la aceptación y el ser felices todo lo que se pueda.
Really quick read. Has a lot of the King archetypes, but enjoyable.
