I didn’t enjoy the political virtue signaling from King. I feel like such one dimensional caricatures are overdone and unoriginal, which is why I give the book three stars.
But looking beyond that, I did find the second half to be much more enjoyable. I think, from a chronic illness or life-threatening illness perspective, it would have felt a little more authentic to see our MC, Scott, go through some more realistic stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, acceptance, etc. since we were seeing these types of reactions and interactions play out with other characters.

It was a good listen (read as an audiobook spoken by the author himself). I love Stephen King novels and always will, but this is more odd and mysterious than it is horror? I think it actually had a good message and actually made me cry at one point? Overall good book, but not your typical King horror.
(2.5) Not his best. Not his worst. A lot of reviews bemoan the one-dimensional characters while others applaud King’s choice to highlight basic human decency among neighbors. As for me, I’m really not sure in what direction I lean. Elevation is novella about a man losing his literal connection to this world (via gravity) as he continues to shed weight without actually having his physicality change. He knows he cannot survive this mysterious affliction, so he wants to determine how and when he’ll end his existence. Before doing so, though, he must first decide his legacy. How will he leave a lasting impression on his community before forced to leave it?
No me esperaba para nada este libro. La temática es muy original aunque nada que me esperara de S. King.
Es una novela corta, que engancha aunque a la mitad ya sabes como acabará.
Me ha gustado.

Awesome novella by King. Whimsical, insightful, really great.
A very quick read with some interesting things to say about perspective and mortality. I particularly liked the emphasis on the importance of doing good with limited time. But I wish there was bit more length to flesh out the story and characters. I guess I am not used to a short and sweet story from Stephen King.
Harmless and maybe a little too simplistic to be considered great, but still easily worth reading if just for its brevity and positivity.
