Like all Stephen King novels, it captured my attention and kept it throughout. But also like all Stephen King novels, there is definitely some symbolism in there that I am just not intelligent enough to pick up on. Gonna need to google it, but after I wipe a few tears from my eyes from that beautifully written ending.
A short and charming story, perfectly quick with a balance of humour, melancholy, and appreciation for this strange and beautiful life.
Loved this book, it was a great quick read, exactly what I needed to get me out of my reading slump. It's not a horror story like King's usual books but it's still good nonetheless.
At one point the main character is compared to Mary Poppins, and I feel this story gave me the same feeling that I get from Mary Poppins.
Scott Carey finds himself mysteriously losing weight; the scale presents a lower number everyday, but his body has not changed from the 240 lb self he is accustomed to. While he engages with a doctor acquaintance and his new neighbors, nobody can quite figure out what is happening to Scott.
The only horror you will find is here is how the people in the small town of Castle Rock treat each other and “outsiders”, so they need a little ~lifting up~ to learn to be human. I actually enjoyed that the phenomenon of Scott was not fully understood; he just accepted his role for what it was and went with it.
I think you’ll enjoy this most of you just take it for what it is and don’t read into things too much; it works best as a short message of hope, and how one man taught his community to rise above.

I enjoyed the short Laurie more than Elevation. Elevation was mostly good, but some parts seemed very White Knight fantasy like, which was awkward.

I liked this so much more than I thought I would. It made my heart hurt, but in a good way.
