This is an "oops we got caught alone we have to get married" romance set-up, but it also addresses finding common ground with someone who on the surface might not have much in common with you, learning to use your voice, and learning to work with a partner to build a stronger relationship.  I really appreciated the growth from the main character and I have the sequel on my To Read list for 2024.

A sweet and low-stakes regency romance!

What I liked:
•Theme of love being a daily, active choice
•Marriage of Convenience trope
•Portrayal of severe social anxiety

What I didn’t:
•Not enough chemistry between the main couple
•Too little drama/stakes for my personal preference

an enjoyable series

I came upon this book when I simply needed a break, and this story gave it to me. I enjoyed Felicity’s story and her lesson on choice in love. I only wish James’ perspective was a part of this book!

I did enjoy this book and might want to read the 3rd book, Henry's book, because of Felicity's history with him and his mysterious background, but I don't "believe" in "clean" romance books ;)

This book was entertaining and I enjoyed the characters.  There was kissing and some discussion of skin on skin contact, but it didn't go farther than that.  That was fine for this book but calling it "clean" is an adjective bound to dissuade some from reading it.

In this series, the Bradwell brothers are introduced.  James is at a ball and meets Felicity who is hiding in the library to avoid dancing. She has a social anxiety of sorts and will faint when dancing because of her nerves.  Though they try to avoid a scandal, they end up marrying and then moving to his country home.

Felicity had met James' brother the previous summer and thought she was in love with him, but they lost touch.  Then when she met James she didn't know who he was.  When she was reintroduced to Henry, they were uncomfortable, but ultimately James and Felicity discover that opposites can attract.

Ultimately I enjoyed James and Felicity discovering they could work together to find things they enjoy together and the characters were engaging.  What I liked and thought was different about this book was that it was written in the first person, which most regency/romances are not.

Worth a read if you like opposites attract or are looking for a "clean" romance.

This was a super cute historical romance and defs recommend if the synopsis sounds up your alley.
It’s filled w angst n pining but it’s closed-door.
The ending was not my favourite, to me it was a little rushed and felt incomplete, but overall I did enjoy my reading experience.
Also appreciated the message of the book about choosing to love one another every day, very cute.

First off, if you haven't read Properly Kissed (prequel novella), you should do it now. It is not necessary, but it does set up Felicity's unique and uncomfortable situation.

Sensibly Wed is the sweet story of the forced marriage between the quiet, bookish Felicity and handsome James.

Felicity is true bluestocking, carrying a book with her to every outing, because "one never knew when one would find an opportunity to read." She doesn't care for the Season or society; she only attends functions to satisfy her parents. Felicity is a bundled of nerves in crowds and crippling anxiety forces her to either faint or find refuge at every ball she attends.

James is in search of a wife, but the prospects do not impress him...until he happens upon Felicity in the library during the ball. Intrigued by her admission that she does not dance, he is determined to change her mind. They are discovered, alone, in one another's arms and the damage is done. In order to save her reputation and his good name, they agree to marry. Only after they are engaged does she discover that he is a Bradwell, a brother to the man she thinks she loves! Let the awkwardness begin!

I absolutely adored this book! Felicity is so relatable. She loves books, she doesn't like attention, and she is very honest and up front. James, well let's be frank, James is simply irresistible. Both of them are determined to make the best of their situation. They share very little in common but that doesn't deter James. He is unrelenting is his quest to find common ground and it is so precious. No matter the outcome of his planned activities, he remains calm and committed. He is patient, considerate, the perfect gentleman, her refuge and he is utterly besotted with her. He wants to be the man that she chooses.

Will she choose him?

Can’t wait for Benedict’s story in the next book? I would love to see a happy ending story for Henry, too!

Loved this book, I couldn’t put it down and found myself eager to read anytime I had a spare minute or two. Felicity and James have a beautiful story that shows the power of choice, because long lasting love is exactly that, a choice you make every day.

The low-stakes for most of the book were so low it about put me to sleep. Preachy, inconsistent, and lingered on unimportant details. Certain comments took me out of the historical period (the author should have done a bit more research to the era), and I think the female main character forgot her motivation and opinions every other chapter.

I expected to not finish this book, turning it off if there was manufactured drama. Instead I found a delightful story and easy read that was a comfort to read in one day. Communication as adults, delightful characters, and a nice story. Absolutly delightful.
