I think at this point it's safe to say I will love any and all melodramatic 19th century vampire fiction. This was a beautiful exploration of inheritance though, and absolutely not a classic vampire story in the way you'd expect.

God, I’m such a sucker for beautifully desperate romance stories.

Also, I’m in awe of the literary diversity Robert Louis Stevenson shows — this man really has a knack for creating compelling narratives throughout a great variety of themes.
