Being back in this world was honestly a true delight! I loved finally meeting Talemir and connecting some of the bits of information we gleaned in the Legends of Thezmarr series to his character. Drue is a force to be reckoned with - I really enjoyed this badass, stabby ranger. The nickname of Wildfire suits her perfectly!

This book had me screaming all over the place - at the characters sometimes with their stubbornness lol, at the tension (oh goodness, the tension!) and, of course, at their misfortunes and triumphs! The writing was lovely, as always with Helen, some quotes have just lived rent free in my brain. Here's my favourite:

"Love didn't happen once... It happened every day, in little moments, in the quiet gaps between grand words, in the lingering touches, in the hope it promised in the dark. Love was something that breathed and expanded, that was made and remade, again and again, reforged only to become stronger."

If you love:

2.5⭐️

I really liked getting to learn more about the situation with the half wraiths of thezmarr. The author says you dont need to read this one to understand the main series, so im intrigued to see how thea and company will discover this for themselves.

I loved the aspect with the cuff and how it can both sense and repel wraiths. Why? Because it's alchemy and I really enjoy the way Helen always makes sure to point out how important alchemy actually is despite how Thea feels about it.

I really liked drue and adrienne. They make great additions to the series, and it's nice to have females in charge of the situation for once. I'm hoping to see more of them later.

As far as the romance goes, it was another case of one having a dislike for the other but getting over it very fast. But it's more than a dislike given she hunts wraiths and he's half one but she's very quick to reveal her attraction to him. I'm definitely finding that I'd prefer the romances in thezmarr to have a slower burn to them. That being said, I do like tal and drue together.

The PERFECT palate cleanser! This was so much fun. Short and cute! I love them sm
