4.5⭐️ - 3🌶️
☆ Forced Proximity
☆ Found Family
☆ He Falls Fiest
☆ Monster Romance
☆ Touch Her And Die
☆ Reluctant Allies
I read this right after book 2 in The Legends of Thezmarr, and it helped heal some of the emotional wreckage. It explained so much about what was happening at the end of that book, things I suspected, but couldn’t have guessed. Now I’m even more excited for what’s coming.
The romance was beautiful. I don’t usually enjoy insta love, but it worked here. It felt like a needed break from the chaos. Even with a few sad moments, the story was filled with hope.
Not quite a 5⭐️ for two reasons:
– He’d never flown before, but suddenly he’s a mid-battle expert?
– He left her. Then came back with no grovel, no fallout. Just... nothing.
Still absolutely worth the read.

Love didn't happen once. It happened every day, in little moments, in the quiet gaps between grand words, in the lingering touches, in the hope it promised in the dark. Love was something that breathed and expanded, that was made and remade, again and again, reforged only to become stronger.
My daughter hasn't needed my permission or blessing for anything in a long time, nor would I be fool enough to try to impose either upon her. But for what it's worth, Warsword - shadow-touched or not, you make her happy, and that's all a father can ask for.
How did I find you? How did this happen...?
I believe I tried to kill you.
A woman after my own heart.

first rating: 4/5
second rating: 5/5
i first read this book back in january as a quick fun little read after finishing a series and as such, i definitely didn't give it the time it deserved. after starting the legends of thezmarr series a few weeks ago, i decided a reread was in order after finishing book two because there were so many hints that i vaguely remembered from this book and it was driving me nuts!
i loved this even more the second time around. i feel like it's so equal on all points as far as action, plot and romance go, and though there is spice it doesn't take away from any of the story at all.
drue is a badass warrior in her own right and most definitely a force to be reckoned with. talemir, whilst every bit the fearsome warrior expected of a mighty warsword, is very loyal, charismatic and loveable. i enjoyed his character a lot more the second time around after the mentions of him throughout both blood & steel and vows & ruins. of course i'd be amiss to not mention wilder, quite possibly one of my favourite lead male characters. a younger pre-blood & steel wilder... lord.
outside of these three, we have a varied cast of side characters that really carry their weight throughout the course of the story.

So happy I read this offshoot of the legends of thezmarr series and definitely recommend! Tal and Drue are my favourite and it was such a good spicy romance!
