"She doesn't hate me, and I nearly shudder from the relief of it."
"I've seen him do it a million times, and it shouldn't make my heart flutter, but it does, and I have to look away again."
“I often find comfort in the thought that fate has already drawn a path beyond what seems impossible.”

I would be lying if I said I didn't feel really wholesome once I finished this. But I guess it was the end of a series so that's natural. I totally loved the storyline as it was very captivating. plus Rhen was just another level of fantastic here. Really liked this book and it was a very pleasant end to the series. great read.

The Cursebreakers series was supposed to be space filler me for. Sort of like a breather in between two series that I was really looking forward to reading. A Curse So Dark and Lonely (book #1) was being promoted as a retelling of Beauty and the Beast which is why my interest in it was lukewarm. But really, it was only very loosely based on Beauty and the Beast, thank god.

This series turned out to be a favorite of mine. I loved how the story developed, how the first book was about Rhen and Harper and then the second book (A Heart So Fierce and Broken) was about Grey and Lia Mara and then this third book was about what really mattered - the relationship between the brothers. I was a bit wary going into A Vow So Bold and Deadly seeing as how it rated lower than the first two books - I guess some readers would've wanted the big ending/resolution to be about the love interests, but I found the ending to be very satisfying. Throughout this book, I kept thinking that I really just wanted Rhen and Grey to be okay so I'm very happy with how the book/series ended. :)

Was it perfect? No. Was I entertained? Yes. I wanted to see what would happen. I love a good happy ending. Pregnancy seemed unnecessary for sure but alright I guess. Not amazing but had fun with the series.

More of a 4.5/5, rounded up.

I quite enjoyed this one. I had needed a book that was a bit lighter after finishing a fairly dense read, so I figured I'd finish off this trilogy since it had been sitting on my shelf for quite awhile.

Let's get to it:

The Good:

- It's been a couple years since I read A Heart So Fierce and Broken, but I found the world and characters to be really easy to get back into. There were one or two who I needed to think back on and remember who they were, but in general I found everything really easy to remember and adjust to.

- I liked being back with the characters and seeing their relationships again. All of them had some pretty nice arcs, learning and growing in ways that felt natural from the characters that were introduced earlier in the trilogy. I particularly liked Grey and Lia Mara's arcs, with them having to learn how to be leaders. Rhen and Harper were also good, but I just connected a bit more with Grey and Lia Mara in this one.

- I really liked Lilith as a villain in this. She was a great mix of conniving and brutal, and had some great villain moments throughout the book, especially in the second half when the story started ramping up its intensity. There are some downright horrific scenes in here featuring her, and I was loving it.

The Couple Negatives:

- Even though the ending wrapped up nicely and I did like how it all tied together, there were a couple small elements that I felt like ended up being a bit too tidy (mostly tied to a couple character death fakeouts that I feel would have been better if the characters had died, but this is also a YA and a lot of major side characters still kicked it so I shouldn't expect too much in terms of darkness, I just wish that a couple more hadn't been fakeouts since I think it would have added to the power of the story).

- There were a couple minor worldbuilding and plot things that could have been written a bit stronger, but again it's a YA novel. For a YA, it was perfectly functional and worked well (if anything it was stronger than the worldbuilding and plot of most YA fantasies I've read).

Overall:

Good end to a good trilogy. The ending was satisfying, the characters were good, and the villain was creepy. If you want a neat YA fantasy romance trilogy with fairy tale vibes, more depth than it needed to have, and some sweet relationships, check it out.

I enjoyed that conclusion. Much of it was predictable, but the writing was fantastic. It gave me the Beauty & the Beast vibes through the end and a big part of that was the strong character development. There were a few threads that didn’t seem fully wrapped up and left me wanting more. I have a feeling there will be more to this world...or at least I’m hoping!!
