I really wanted to enjoy this book way more than I actually did, I have enjoyed Howard's other retellings, and the elements of The Labyrinth in this story were a big draw for me as it's one of my favorite movies. However, I did have a hard time getting invested in the MC's struggles throughout her journey. I did enjoy the artistic elements in this book as well as the alternate world but the direction that the book is going is not something I am looking forward to in the next book. I really dislike the revenge plot that's developing between the siblings. I understand the anger that Nix's sister feels but making her so angry and volatile does not appeal to me.
