I really, really liked this book. I felt like I was watching a British romcom in my mind. It was funny, witty and the main characters were fully fleshed-out individuals. I just loved them. I wanted to spend more time with them.
Initially, the hero was hard to read. He seemed like a real asshole, but yup, as you might have predicted, he turns out to be lovable asshole. I love how the author didn't make excuses for him in this book, by making it seem like his behavior is always justified; luckily, the heroine was there to put him in his place. Even the supporting characters were fun, and this book had a trove of supporting characters.
Initially, I didn't want to read this book because I wasn't sure I'd be able to buy the fact that two actors would come together and fall in love (personal prejudice - I watch way too much E!) but the author had me convinced. It had entered my list of my favorite books of 2016.
Warning: If you, like me, are a fan of sex-heavy books, this book can act like a palette cleanser. Very romance and character-heavy, with some comedy thrown in. I genuinely laughed out loud at some moments as I read this book. It was a good read.

I liked this a lot! I think Richard and Lainie moved a little too quickly from hate to love, but otherwise a fun romance.

I absolutely adored this book. My taste for contemporaries is extremely hit or miss, but this one hit all the perfect notes. There was snark. There was some serious sexual tension going on. There was the right amount of misunderstanding vs communication. (The plot at no point hinged on people not talking to each other, THANK GOD.) The origin of the final conflict felt really organic and natural and "oh god I know EXACTLY how you did that" wince-inducing sympathetic--and the resolution felt meaningful and difficult and right. I'm a sucker for fake relationship trope played well, and this book did it super well.
Also, Richard is hot, goodness gracious.

This book was 80% dumpster fire, 20% cute scenes.
Everything is so random and anything can happen;
The characters moved from not liking each other to liking each other with nothing to make that happen. They just are very compatible now. Plus all other characters are just as random and unmotivated. Everybody does things that are so unprompted and out of character.
The book felt like it had way too much conversation, I can't be sure since I listened to it but it was odd. They weren't telling instead of showing, they were just over-the-top chatty.
This book was recommended so much and I had great expectations, but I feel awful now. I have no idea if I wanna go on reading the series or even another book from it.

random sexual assault, random sad origin story, actual fainting, buildings toppling down to help us not have a conversation. Anything. Can. This book was everything I love in a contemporary romance. Smart and funny with a competent and witty heroine. Tons of chemistry and lots of verbal sparring. There was a modern day Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy dynamic between the two main characters, and it worked wonderfully. I stayed up too late to finish this, and I was grinning like a fool most of the time. I'd heard nothing but raves for this book, and it lived up to the hype.
