I'm not surprised this book wasn't my favorite considering I am a big hater of unexpected pregnancy books and the idea of reading a whole-ass book about that one thing is really not appealing. But it is because I love the shit out of the Ward family and I need to know every single detail about their lives that I knew I couldn't and wouldn't skip Lia's book. I've been intrigued by her since the beginning and I was really curious to see the rebel of the family take on such a serious role of becoming a parent. What surprised me and I think I really liked is that Gabriel (but actually his first name is Logan and I'm absolutely screaming crying vomiting about it) was born at the very end and we got to see a mostly normal romance novel, so I wasn't so annoyed by the trope as much. Originally I also thought that I wouldn't be such a fan of the main characters literally being from two different continents but again, it wasn't so annoying mostly at the end but I'll get into that a bit later. Overall this book wasn't my favorite not just because of the unexpected pregnancy but also because I didn't think the conflict was good in any way shape or form and also because I just wasn't as interested in the romance. Absolutely everything revolved around the pregnancy and it got pretty repetitive after a while.

Lia surprised me in the best way possible, it always seemed to me like she was the one sister who did not have it figure out the most, I thought she was just rebellious and snarky but Lia proved to me that she was very mature in the ways that count and I loved seeing her become more conscious of her choices and the necessary changes she had to make to become a mom. She was so smart and caring and very emotionally mature too. I loved seeing her change and develop as a person and I was a big fan just of who she was in general.

Jude was not as interesting as Lia, I really wanted to love him but mostly I was indifferent. I really liked how he stepped up into the role of a father, how caring and supportive he was and I loved seeing him be gentle and loving towards Lia. He had some shit going on with his parents and his football career and I couldn't give less of a fuck if I tried. I just did not care at all. I liked him as a character but he wasn't the most memorable to me and at times I was getting really frustrated with his behavior because for a 31-year-old he was very much acting like a dumbass teenager and Lia who was 22 was the adult in their relationship.

As for the romance, I looooved their chemistry at the beginning, they had immediate attraction and I actually really appreciated that it was just that and not so insta-love as it was with Claire and Bauer. But as the novel progressed I felt like they were more on the track of becoming bffs than a romantic couple. I loved all the cute moments they shared because they really warmed my heart but I wasn't over the moon excited for their romance, plus I already can't remember half the stuff they did in the book. Then of course around the 3/4 point of the book we had to have the big conflict. Maybe I am the stupid one here but that conflict was the most confusing and dumb thing ever. I did not understand why it had to be such a big deal, then the separation was to be expected because of course they need to be an ocean apart to really have the angst going, but it did nothing in the bigger picture. I get that she had to be with her family and finish college and I also understood Jude having to finish his football season but I found their fight before she left kind of stupid. But fast forward we get to see months go by, them calling each other every week having the weirdest, most awkward relationship, Jude "working" on his issues ( I mean literally not that big of a deal honestly), and then he came to the states and it was like they never were apart, they got together immediately because like I said there really wasn't anything keeping them apart other than Lia being like get your shit together Jude, and then he did in like three sentences of the book. Then tadaaa he gave her some sweet presents, moved to Seattle to play there and then I have to admit this, the end was super cute and emotional. They had Gabriel, the whole gang was there and it was absolutely the sweetest thing.

I'm giving the book three stars because I probably enjoyed it as much as the second one, I read it fast and Lia was the shit, the end was adorable and just the presence of the other Wards makes each book a million times better. Another thing I loved so much was how the sisters were a big part of this story in such a supportive way, in the previous books we got to see the sisters but not so much as we did here. I loved how Claire was Lia's rock, how Molly provided just a nice break from everything and was there to just support and I loved the fact that Isabel came to England and was a big part of the story, of course there was a bit of Logan and Paige as well and they were present in the most wholesome and parental and protective way.

I have to say it again, the fact that the whole book took place during the pregnancy probably increased my enjoyment and Lia was the star. Now I'm glad I have this one done and I can finally!!! read Isabels book. I've been intrigued by her and Molly's stories the most and Isabel was always my favorite. Her book promises some of my all time favorite tropes like single dad/ age gap/enemies to lovers?? (not sure on this one but it has the vibeee)/slow burn/boss employee/ sports romance and I am so excited. I don't want to have my hopes up too much but I'm feelin it. The Washington Wolves was a much more light-hearted series and even though these books aren't that serious either they have a slightly different vibe and maybe I'm just hoping that Isabel's book is gonna be a fun read full of tension and banter.

Overall I really enjoyed this read. I thought the characters were very well developed and interesting. The chemistry was pretty steamy and believable.

The third act break up wasn’t my favorite.
I think there just wasn’t enough there to make me care about why Jude’s parents were jerks. There could have been a bit more background there for me. And in the end I felt like I didn’t get to see as much of Jude’s side of the story between the third act break up and getting back together.  I trust that he did the work, but I sort of wanted to see more of the work he was doing.

ugh ward family best family!!!!!!

4.5 stars

A solid 4 star.

This was addictive. I couldn't put it down. Lia wasn't my favourite sister but she may have become the favourite.

Can I read this again?
