While it hinges on convoluted reboot lore prefaced in a prologue scrawl that may scare those wary of comic trope, Hickman provides the foundation for what can become an engrossing Spiderman run - the onus of choice in regards to the power of Spidey and where responsibility lands now inverted. Responsibility can still be a theme, the script flipped but focus still on Peter, now with a children, family, and a living Uncle Ben. Peter moves very little in this #1, but what happens with Ben and JJJ is a promise that Hickman has a plan.

Such an interesting start to a new run of comics. Uncle Ben alive and Peter has a family.

What a fresh take on Spider-man! A modern, middle-aged family man with bills and doubts about his career choices? A new spin on an old friend's tale.

We recognize all of the main characters, no one is too far removed or foreign to us, which was comforting and made this easy to fly through. Their relationships are completely different though and as such the interactions and dialogue they shared was fresh and entertaining.

The story-telling was captivating, the artwork was eye-grabbing and the next volume comes out in a week. Quickly becoming a big fan of comic books!

A refreshing new spin on an adult Peter Parker without abilities.
