This short story follows a ghost writer[duh] contracted to write the memoir of an elusive and wildly popular gothic horror novelist named Claudia. Claudia, it seems, has drawn on her real life for inspiration in her books. Claudia was accused of killing three people when she was seventeen. She got off on a technicality and has always claimed she has no memory of the night of the murders. Grace knows she can't say no to being Claudia's ghost writer because, for the first time ever, Claudia claims to have her memories back and wants to tell her story to the world.

This was an interesting short story at first, but honestly nothing special I think it would’ve been more interesting with a full length novel and more twists. The ending felt obvious to me so that wasn’t super shocking.

This was a great short story. The setup had some great atmosphere and build up which I really enjoyed. Then the story slowly unwinds in bursts as the main character learns of the past in pieces and attempts to put it all together. The ending was great and the final reveal was perfect! I only wish it had been a full sized novel as I really liked the concept and it could have really been expanded on further.

A grieving ghost rider is sought out to write for an author who lives on a secluded island and is very mysterious, following her being accused of murdering her significant other, his mistress, and his little brother over a decade ago. But she has a different story to tell then what was said to have happened all those years ago.
Now she is finally ready to tell her story.
The ghost writer was actually the killer all those years ago, as she was crazy obsessed with the authors significant other when they were young. The author only discovered who she was after seeing her in the news about her husband’s passing (which was him perishing in a boat fire with his mistress)
