I think this book was fine overall. I liked the concept of the reborn, but little was actually done with them. Most of the women in this book are jealous, petty, and/or heartless (literally) which is pretty cringe, especially considering the amount of much more complex male characters featured. I really do not think that the child SA scene was necessary or justified for the main character and it honestly just came across as trauma porn for the shock factor of it.

Well paced, with a good balance of action and quiet moments. But it was very dark. Ilium and even the other members of the Seven did provide some light amusement. I can't wait to read the stories of the Seven, they are exceptional secondary characters, but it looks like there's another Raphael and Elena story to read first...

I ADORE the Psy-Changeling series, so it pains me to rate this series so poorly. I think Nalini Singh is truly a talent, but I cannot get down with the all mighty angel hero and lowly, powerless human/new angel heroine dynamic. It freaks me out! The angel community sucks! I didn't enjoy reading about them! I think I gotta call it on this series.
