This one wasn’t as exciting as Angel’s Blood. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it was boring. I’d estimate about 85% of this book was Elena training and passing out from the training.

Also, coming off of reading Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series, I find myself yearning for the romance to be more center stage. Especially since the stakes seem incredibly low at this point, it’s all political doublespeak and intimidation tactics. And I don’t understand why archangels hold themselves to certain ethics laws when there are only like 10 of them and they don’t answer to anybody. Why even have political machinations? Just brute force your way through immortality - I mean because who cares right? What is their purpose for living?? I get they help with the vampire population (that they CREATE), but what greater purpose do they believe they serve? I just want to understand where this is going, I need the hook!

hmmmm i remember thinking about the first book how well it was written but this one felt? chopped off in a way. fragmented. weird.

3.5 STARS.
I really liked this book, but probably just a bit less than the first one. It did have a good plot and the characters are amazing and I love them but nothing really happened and she didn’t really leave the place she was staying until near the end. I know in this book the female MC is getting used to her new body and re building herself after being in a coma for so long.

Illum is still my favourite, the precious blue winged Blue Bell. I do think something is going to happen though as he seems to be getting a bit close to the MC and I don’t think the Archangel will like that.

Dimitri wasn’t in this one as much which I was a bit disappointed about but we did get to meet the rest of the Seven; the guard of elite vampires and angels that work very closely with the Archangel. (Like his body guards/mercenaries/soldiers).

The story is fantastic. My only qualm, the narrator is a bit low energy for such a high energy story. I should probably read these so I don’t lose anything when I zone out. However, my TBR is endless and the audiobooks are always available on Libby so…. onward.
