I loved this book sm, like there isn't anything I would change. The characters were so loveable, and the tension and the enemies to lovers between Sylvia and Arin was done so right like..😩🤌 like they'd say they hate each other but every single time that one of them is hurt or in danger they fight to protect each other 🤭... with all that said I won't be reading the 2nd book bc as much I liked this book it didn't grip me enough to want to pick up the 2nd book
yikes idk why I really want to like this but I’m not invested at all. It’s giving This Woven Kingdom and I didn’t enjoy that either. :/

First of all what a way to end a book especially when it is book 1 of a duology !!!
At first the book felt boring, even over bearing, it felt like a chore, and i was just thinking profusely, it is indeed overhyped, i don't understand why do people even say it broke through their heart and this book or duology is close to their heart, there is nothing that charm me, despite it being marketed as Egyptian inspired fanatsy book, but oh well i was wrong, really wrong. The world building indeed was beautiful and something i felt really home at, despite not being Egyptian, i felt i knew almost everything that was happening, and how atmospheric the setting was explained yet it being not too over the top was perfect.
Coming towards Sylvia, i loved her from the get go, i loved her annoying side's, i loved how humane she felt, In her suffering, with her demons from past, the tortoured and pain she carried and how despite being the heir to the crown of usr jasad, she can't control her infinite amount of magic that she carried, i love how strong she is, and how she is not portrayed to be someone who is vulnerable or damsel in distress, yet at the same time the beauty of her at the end of the book almost finding solace and comfort in arms of arin just made me feel really happy, how she compared him to figs which she found peace in, how she just simply fell in love with him, their kiss was everything to me after her win and how despite her magic hurting him, he loved to be just near her no matter what, beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
And about arin, my feelings were complicated, honestly i didn't felt anything, it just annoyed me how he is shown cruel and inhumane and i was thinking maybe again there will be just another mc who has no emotions yet he will be there to go ahead and charm our fmc, but no, to my surprise, when i reached the middle of the book, even his smile made me happy, i loved how calculated and cruel yet soft he was and whenever they interacted i just felt so happy, how it took them time to get closer and eventually it was so evident that he was also in love with her and wanted her win, with his little actions to him losing his mind when she was stabbed to even the last chapter when she has to save her friend's and revealed her identity and all was left of her was her cuffs and she was abducted, i know he ie keen on finding her, i know he will never go ahead and let her die or be executed, he will find her, all in all, i am excited to read book 2, even though the amount of people i have seen shedding tear's will have me in shambles, i am ready for it.
