—— RE READ ——————
LOVE LOVE LOVE.
The tension eats every time.
““Try again,” he said.
“What?”
“Think of a better lie. You’re capable of it.”
Can’t wait for book 2!
—— ORIGINAL READ ———
It’s been a hot minute since I rated something a full fledged 5 stars.
I don’t want to hear anyone say there aren’t enough “true” enemies-to-lovers if you haven’t given this book a go.
The Jasad Heir shocked me - and that’s an understatement.
Shame is a dangerous feeling to manipulate. Pull at the string too many times, and it will eventually snap into apathy.
The story unfolds as expected. The last heir of a destroyed kingdom is hiding - her world collides with the heir of the kingdom that destroys hers.
But the thing that elevates The Jasad Heir above everything, is the execution. At no point did things feel tropey or like the author was following a formula and ticking off boxes.
“What appeal can reason have in the face of your tears?”
Sylvia is such a strong character who’s multifaceted and easy to root for even when she doesn’t know what her end goal is. Arin is just as complex and he makes you want to sit down and untangle his threads.
And when the two collide - magic .
The way their interactions start and how they grow. So masterfully written. I loved the pace and development. I haven’t read a slow burn like this in a while.
She had the temperament of a deranged goose. Every interaction he’d shared with her had thoroughly convinced him he was not dealing with a stable woman
I kept putting down the book, giggling and re-reading. The animosity, the constant deception. I was so stressed for them and I had no idea who I supported more.
I beg everyone to read this criminally underrated book.

SARA! You fucking queen. This was phenomenal. When I tell you I never wanted to put this down. The story is perfection. Her writing is gorgeous. THE END??? I’m glad I waited for book 2 to begin book 1 because I would have been staring at the wall for days. I am sat. I just know book 2 is going to have me sobbing.

Glad I finally got around to reading this one as it's been on my TBR since it was released.
I wish we had more time with the non-human monsters, as they seemed pretty interesting.
Sylvia breaks convention in some ways. Yes, she's cold and hardened by her circumstances, but she grows and learns. She's tall, and not some frail flower of a girl that somehow overpowers everyone around her. She's flawed but capable. She has actual friends who have their own personalities! I quite enjoyed her.
There was a certain amount of predictability, but I didn't mind so much as the journey was still made interesting.
There are a few chapters from a different perspective. They were fine, but I wonder how necessary they truely were.
I find myself wanting to read the next book sooner rather than later.
