Sad but hopeful. Little predictable but a good read with lots to think about.

I wanted to love this book. I was drawn to the storyline, especially Gina's relationship with the dog. I understood what the author was trying to do with the flashbacks but it made the story disjointed. Still a good read.

What a lovely book, praise to Lucy Dillon once again! Although it has snippets of Ginas memories it is not hard to follow to the present day. I'm slightly annoyed at the ending as it was just left hanging but wow it blew me away.
I just wish i wasn't so busy so I could have finished it in one or two sittings, rather than having to keep putting it down (didn't want to)

Was it a coincidence I came across this book the same week I started my 100 Happy Days challenge on Instagram? A richly woven story with some well thought out characters, A Hundred Pieces of Me takes you on a journey along with Gina from her awkward school days to whirlwind romance with first love Kit all the way through a seemingly fuss-free separation from her husband and the aftermath.

In a narrative which moves back to reveal in bits Gina's history, it's amazing how the focus of her post-divorce life, along with the focus of the narrative, moves from definitive objects we want to keep forever to definitive moments that can only be captured fleetingly in memory, the nows of our lives, stripped bare from the regrets of the past and fears for the future. A message which becomes even clearer in the last chapter and will resonate with you long after you have finished the book.

Helt klart en utav hennes bästa. Jag älskar idén med att man bara får spara 100 personliga saker när man ska starta på nytt. Något som jag gärna skulle vilja testa!

Boken är mysig, underhållande och allt igenom feel-good.

These are phenomenal books, the kind that you can't read lightly. They are moving and emotional, and I am very frustrated with my local library for not having more of them!

Första meningen (kap 1, finns prolog också) : "Gina stands back and breathes in the sharp dark-green scent of the Douglas fir, and thinks, Yes, this is why I bought this house." / "Gina tar ett steg tillbaka, andas in den aromatiska, mörkgröna barrdoften från granen och tänker: Ja, det var därför jag ville ha det här huset."

I did enjoy this book. The story was interesting and thought provoking and I sped through the pages. The characters were interesting and fairly well developed. However, the one thing that stopped this book from getting a higher rating was the ending. It seemed to be very abrupt and I found myself wondering why so many loose ends were left unanswered. However, that may have been the intention, but I just found it was not an ending I enjoyed greatly.

There was nothing explicitly wrong with this book, I just don’t really think chick-lit is my thing. The characters were likeable and it’s obviously well-written but there wasn’t much else enough to grab my attention the way I’d want a good book to and toward the end it grew tedious to finish, sadly.
