Listened to this on audiobook - the narrator was excellent.
I enjoyed the meandering style of the book with certain items leading to stories from Gina's younger days, to her more recent past and to the present.
However, I did not like the end at all, which sadly spoiled the book for me. It may be true to life but it left me feeling quite down and I also felt was a bit unresolved.
I've read other books by this author which I did enjoy but this one lost its way a bit near the end for me.

As described, the book follows freshly divorced and overwhelmed Gina Bellamy into her clean new apartment, and her attempt at starting over after a few difficult years. Gina is a hoarder - she loves collecting trinkets and items that appeal to her. After her divorce, however, when the boxes of things her ex-husband wants no part of takes over almost all the free space in her new apartment, she makes a resolution: she'll only keep a hundred special items, barring clothes and necessities. The rest can go.
Sorting through these items forces Gina to remove all the things that clutter her apartment, and come to terms with memories she prefers to shy away from. What we see, from then on, is the slow, but admirable growth of our main character. It is a story that talks about the importance of coming to terms with your past, and embracing your present.
One of the things I loved about this book was the style in which it was written. Every chapter begins with the name of an item that Gina decides to keep, and an extract from her past that tells us why it is important to her. The rest of the chapter is in the present. Through this unique writing style, the author slowly unveils her character, bit by bit, all the while keeping you in suspense for more. You find yourself connecting to Gina, and supporting her journey of starting over. More than that, you find yourself hoping she gets a happy ending.
Another admirable quality about the writing was the gorgeous descriptions - not only about the setting and the mood, but the way the author describes emotions, and feelings really lets you empathize. Then there are the metaphors. I found myself in awe of the different comparisons she makes.
Above all, what I liked about the book, was the personal growth that Gina goes through. She really matures as a person, and learns so much about herself, it's very inspiring. Gina learns to live in the moment, but also develops the patience to take her journey one step at a time. It is a beautiful book about growing, and living life to its fullest.

Not a bad concept but a terrible book. Couple of stars for the idea of narrative being driven by the objects she is deciding whether to keep but that is generous as it is all horribly cliched. It irritated me.
The thought behind this book is beautiful, the book however could've been more thought out. It's called 100 pieces of me yet we never knew what the hundred pieces were. The ending however was jaw dropping.
