this was an interesting read, as i either strongly disagreed or agreed with her points. you can definitely tell when it was written however this displays how far feminism has progressed. i loved the chapters on the body, sexuality, and creativity. they were really interesting and insightful. i didn’t like the brief study about animal abuse, it was unnecessary and uncomfortable. i also felt like the tales were dragged out, and i didn’t like how any male character in them was made to be part of the “female psyche” or archetype. i felt like men should have been decentralised to this book. overall, i thought despite my criticisms, it was quite thought-provoking.

(abridged audiobook) - I thought I had purchased the complete book on audiobook but it turned out to be an abridged version, originally released on tape, many years ago. I was not disappointed though, as it was narrated by the author and I felt like she included all of the most interesting and important ideas from the original book, along with the reasons why she thinks these ideas are important. I don’t think I would have enjoyed the full length version as much but I’m glad I took the time to listen to the abridged version
