Perhaps I should not have listened to the abridged version of this book. I enjoyed the exploration of the wild woman archetype in various cultures and contexts. These were beautifully told. Unfortunately, the connection to what we can do in our lives did not feel very strong to me, beyond vague and somewhat obvious (to me) advice like "don't find a partner who crushes all of your ideas" and "trust your gut". I enjoyed this as a quick read and as an exploration of wild women in various tales qnd folklore, but nothing deeper.
I rented the audiobook via Libby so I could listen to it while I’m out and about. I had a hard time reading the physical book because I couldn’t understand what’s going on.

In this book, Dr Estes discusses the many stories and fairytales that help women uncover their more wild side. She uses stories to help women connect with their feminine sides.

I still don’t understand what’s going on here, honestly. I didn’t learn anything because I had no earthly idea what the hell was going on.
I feel like this book went over my head and I hate that. This is exactly what I struggled with when I tried reading this book in 2020 at my previous job.
I love the premise of this book and the idea that this author was trying to put across but it all just went over my head, which is truly unfortunate.
I have been in the mood for books just like this lately and I wanted to like this book quite a bit but it just isn’t going to happen, which is disappointing to me.
I have become more and more of a feminist over the recent years and I wanted to add this book to the list of books I read as a bit of research into what I believed but it didn’t work this time. Poo.
I’m not sure I’m a fan of whoever is narrating this book. She is pausing at very strange times, which makes the cadence feel weird to me.
I think that’s partly why I spent so much time in a state of true confusion about the content in this book. I’m sure I would have gotten more out of this book if I could finish the book itself.
I’m not sure I’d recommend this book to anyone and this is one of the very few times I’ve ever said that. I hope I won’t say it again, in all honesty.
If you want something highly intellectual and you feel that you’re ready for this book, then please take a dive into this one. I’m not saying to avoid this book, by any means. It just wasn’t for me.

Great book, a lot of insights. It is meant to read slowly. Digest it, let it sink in. It took me a year to read it, that’s how slowly one can take all the information in. Sometimes I felt it resonating, sometimes I wasn’t in the right place. I have never had such an experience before.
