I love old children's books because, unlike so much kid's media now, you actually see parents behaving like adults and children learning to be their best selves and it's all very wholesome and beneficial for children.

Also I'm somewhat confused because my edition is from '72 and the character is Liz....not Andi.....

Don’t love the sexism and fat shaming - could use an update! Read for scout book/movie club.

It was cute....great family book and great classroom book (for grades 4 and 5) Adding it to my 'nerd-list' of books vs. movies. Movie is loosely based on the novel...both were 'cute'. (I can't seem to find another adjective for this...) ;)

i'm interested to see how different the movie is from the book...i've only made it to chapter 3 and i can already tell there is some "dated" things they'll have to overcome...

so i finished...and from what i understand the book has very little to do with the movie other than the title...the book itself wasn't all that great...i expected more

Andi (Andrea) Walker and her brother, Bruce, take over the neighborhood’s empty house to house dogs without homes. And it was fine until their parents were looking at the house because it was for sale.

Cute, though fairly unrealistic. In real life, the dogs would go nuts in their hotel if they didn't have constant human attention.

It was a short cute book for middle grade.

Dog lovers will enjoy this, especially the younger set.
