Y fin *Insertar meme de estar tirado en el suelo sin saber qué hacer con la vida*. 10/10. El manga es bueno desde el tomo 1 por cómo se va planteando (casi parece una oda al absurdo por momentos) que mejora capítulo a capítulo, sumergiéndose en una historia que es incluso mejor por cómo está narrada que por lo que narra en sí.
Mención especial a los paneles, esos que no tienen diálogo, que algunos ni siquiera son parte de las peleas, que contienen mogollón de información. Ojalá leer cómics así de bien pensados y planteados, incluso cuando reitera el rostro de un personaje en varios paneles seguidos, todo el tiempo.
Muy recomendable.

A series like Chainsaw Man could only have a very... unique ending to its first part. In many other series, this would probably be a bad ending in many ways, but on the context of Chainsaw Man... it really works.
If the manga ended here, I think I would be happy with the ending. However, this is only the start of a new era for Chainsaw Man, and I'm really interested on where it'll go.

I love how fast-paced this manga is. Vol.11 cleared up some questions I had in vol.10. Like how Makima was able to shoot by pointing her fingers—she can control those she’s defeated (by her or under her lead), but somehow Gun Fiend didn’t make an appearance. And Denji turned into Chainsaw because he lost the will to keep going.
What I don’t like is that all the female human/devil hybrids fight naked while the male protagonist always remains fully clothed rarely even half naked. There’s some representation for disabilities; but no body diversity at all (there’s one man with aging body if it even counts). All female characters are within the perimeter of “slim, young, attractive”. Annnd, of course, service shot here and there, sometimes cross page full panel.
My biggest problem is with how the Control Devil was depicted. In this final volume of part one, in her ultimate(?) form, there’re chains protruding from her lower abdomen; at first I thought ‘oh so here Control is equated with female sexuality?’, but soon after it was shown the other end of the chains were linked to supposedly naval area of those she controls. Still, why imply the Control Devil’s power is motherly. Also, my initial thought was not wrong. Out of all the possible forms of control, her power revolves around manipulation through perceived sexual or romantic favours throughout her character arch. Yeah sure, nothing speaks more about“control” than unfulfilled entitlement to women’s body and parenting from mothers. It’d have made more sense if she’s the prime minister or something with impactful actual Control. Soft power (or bottom power) is not real power; yet time and time again it was written as the baddest or badassest thing a gendered woman can command.

end of part 1! this is a silly little manga, it's nothing mind blowing but im having a good time. overall rating as of now is hmm 3.5/5. i dont have a of thoughts bc im not to invested. favorite part of this is denji and power just two silly clueless pals. hesitant to start pt. 2 because it's not complete, but i do want to continue idk.
