Beautiful and touching.
One of my favorite things about poetry is how raw and intimate it can be and this book fulfilled all that and more for me. It was real, sincere and full of love. I felt understood and I haven't felt like that in a while.
Highly recommend it for a light read.

I read all of this in like 30 minutes max? I think that says a lot cause with most poetry books it takes me a long time to finish them because I analyse them and it just takes me a bit more braincells to understand them and the metaphors.
This all was really easy and kind of bland? Maybe I expected too much.
The poems weren’t bad but there weren’t any either that made me feel like “damn” or really hit. Maybe it is because I couldn’t really relate to the topics that these poems were about but still.
Anyway, not that special but okay.

The message was great, and I do think many people need to hear it. But it lacked …. Depth? Profundity? Originality? I think good poetry opens your inner eyes - it makes a statement obliquely. This was just — the statement.
This is one you should definitely read if you have ever faced a toxic relationship, feelings of self-doubt and worthlessness, and need a few reminders that you are enough and you can do anything through hard work and determination.
Amanda Lovelace's first book in her new You are your own fairy tale series is a poetic retelling or reimagining of the classic fairy tale Cinderella. Instead of the fairy godmother (FG) fashioning a gown, a coach, and fancy slippers, (in the first of three parts of the book) the FG offers the girl powerful affirmations of self-worth, strength, and the power to find the beauty that is within. The second part of the book focuses on self-care and knowing your own worth, while the third part is short and sweet--"be your own...fairy tale." This is isn't book lamenting on finding your prince or hoping for a fairy godmother, this book is about facing difficult situations and finding the magic and power within yourself to be seen, to be heard, and to shape your own destiny.
Often Lovelace's works are hit and miss for me, but the majority of this one resonated because doubt, feelings of selfishness when I practice self-care, and feeling stuck are all things I still struggle with and this book offers little gems of hope that can help to push away from those negative naggers in the brain.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the eARC of this work in exchange for my honest review.

Repetitive for me. I do like it still I just think that the plot was already ran through at this point with her. I still loved the book and there are some poems in here that make me rethink how I talk to myself and others. It also reminds me to be gentle with myself. This is something that I really like but at this point it was a bit repetitive. This book was it seemed a different analogy for the other books she has written.
Another amazing set of poetry collection written by Amanda!
The collection speaks as if it is your fairytale. It talks about finding the magic of, not only in yourself, but from the people and things around you. That you arent a princess who waits but persue your happiness and dreams without lossing yourself along the way.
If you loved 'Women are Some Sort of Magic,' then you will love Break Your Glass Slippers.
I cannot wait for the next one!

So, I have not read a book for 2 or so months now and was struggling to find interest in anything. I was wondering my local bookshop yesterday only to discover this new work from Amanda Lovelace (new to me, I think this was published in May so I'm obvi behind) I have loved her other collections of poetry and thought this was worth a shot. I am so happy I picked this up! I had a wonderful time reading, annotating, and relating to this book. I love these poems so much. I must say, I did enjoy the first half just a tad more, but overall this book deserves the 5 stars! I found this to be a very comforting read at this time in my life, and that is all I needed. <3
