This was soo good. I could't stop reading and that's always a good sign. Will is SO hot and attractive...
I can't stop crying but I have to because I'm at work. Ugh, CoHo is an amazing writer. I love this book and I will surely read book 2 soon! ❤
I used to love the ocean.
Everything about her.
Her coral reefs, her white caps, her roaring waves, the rocks they lap, her pirate legends and mermaid tails,
Treasures lost and treasures held…
And ALL
Of her fish
In the sea.
Yes, I used to love the ocean,
Everything about her.
The way she would sing me to sleep as I lay in my bed
then wake me with a force
That I soon came to dread.
Her fables, her lies, her misleading eyes,
I'd drain her dry
If I cared enough to.
I used to love the ocean,
Everything about her.
Her coral reefs, her white caps, her roaring waves, the rocks they lap, her pirate legends and mermaid tails, treasures lost and treasures held.
And ALL
Of her fish
In the sea.
Well, if you've ever tried navigating your sailboat through her stormy seas, you would realize that her white caps are your enemies. If you've ever tried swimming ashore when your leg gets a cramp and you just had a huge meal of In-n-Out burgers that's weighing you down, and her roaring waves are knocking the wind out of you, filling your lungs with water as you flail your arms, trying to get someone's attention, but your friends
just
wave
back at you?
And if you've ever grown up with dreams in your head about life, and how one of these days you would pirate your own ship and have your own crew and that all of the mermaids
would love
only
you?
Well, you would realize…
Like I eventually realized…
That all the good things about her?
All the beautiful?
It's not real.
It's fake.
So you keep your ocean,
I'll take the Lake.
Read it and you'll get it.
WOW ANOTHER UPDATE 6-18-15: lowering this to 2 stars because really the only thing I liked in this was the slam poetry. it's not a bad book it's just not my kind of book so it doesn't deserve a one star, it's just not for me.
UPDATE 5-5-14 : I've decided to lower my rating to 3 stars because as I let this book sit I realize that I didn't really enjoy it a ton, & that it was just alright. Not a bad read, but not a great read.
I'm conflicted about this rating.
I enjoyed it, but I just was not a fan of the writing style, it was a bit too simplistic for my taste, a little too much "show" & not enough "tell." Also, I felt like the relationship didn't develop naturally, it was a little insta-love-ish. Because of that, I wasn't as invested in them as I like to be. Not to say I didn't like them together, because I did, they're just not my favorite pairing.
Those were really my only two main issues with this book, it was pretty good otherwise. I enjoyed all the wisdom that Lake's mother gave, & the strong theme of family. What really made this book for me was the Slam poetry, I was enthralled by it. I thought it was wonderful, & real. It had a satisfying (if but a bit rushed) ending, so I'm not sure where the story will go in the second one, but I think I will be picking it up.
UPDATE 6-6-15 I will not be picking the sequel up, I just really have no interest in it & I feel like it will just be filled with pointless relationship drama. I know a lot of people loved this book, but it just wasn't for me.

Def not as good as her new books. Everything and anything happened to the main character. Too much, too unrealistic.

although some stuff was predictable but I felt this book was one big prologue. I can't wait to read the next story to see Lake and will's relationship evolves. and that epilogue letter "to my babies" I got teary eyed. I'm glad I do have the other 2 to read cuz I'd felt hanging if I didn't read the next one right away.

Dammit Colleen Hoover, you kill me again. In honor of this glorious book I will slam:
Oxygen.
Water.
A life support machine.
All things I need after finishing a CoHo book.
I forget how to breathe
Because all I care about is my OTP.
Tears billow down my face.
I uncontrollably laugh.
My life is a roller coaster.
