I laughed and I cried; I did enjoy this book even though I didn't find it absolutely amazing. I found a lot of witty parts which were so fun to read. The poetry was also very beautiful and it was a nice part of the story.
emotional funny hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

it was an alright book. the characters seemed a bit unrealistic when they first met. I don't see any girl allowing a stranger to touch her right in the beginning like he was. just seemed like she was in love with him within 24 hours.

I read this a while ago - now bringing my review to Goodreads.

What is interesting about this book, is that it is Colleen Hoover's debut novel that she self-published in 2012. It became a hit on social media.

Premise of story: Layken's father dies suddenly. Now her mother takes a job across the country. Her new neighbor is Will Cooper. Attraction ensues between the two. Will this relationship survive every challenge put before them?

This story deals with grief, responsibility, growing up, as well as romance. And slam poetry.

It's just the drama was a little over-the-top.

Will said he couldn't date Layken. (No spoilers from me.)

Despite the added drama that unfolds, the circumstances that they had to overcome regarding the viability of their relationship seemed to be conquered....eventually...too easily. And I think this took away a bit, from the story, for me.

Side note: The relationship between Layken and Eddie is a compelling story.

For the most part, this is a readable and entertaining book. 3.5 stars.

wanted a romance, got a good romance but wasn’t prepared for the utter heartbreak wtf

i didn’t really care for Will or their romance at all. i liked them better as friends. the romance didn’t feel developed at all and i HATED the part with Javi and will’s actual reason for things. HUGE red flag in my opinion. i liked Lake’s development and her relationship with her mom+Kel.

Layken may be the most spoiled, selfish and teenage girl I've ever seen in my life. I wanted to tear my hair out while reading it. By the way, it would be a empty book if death didn't always circle around it. ALSO, the time she said she couldn't wait was A YEAR, she could've easily waited, risked everything unnecessarily.
challenging emotional slow-paced

Incredible story, characters and twists that i definitely didn’t see coming! heart wrenching and warming all at once

This was a beautiful read. I stayed up far too late just to finish it ( I now have a book hangover). Bought the next one within minutes of finishing this one. The poetry was breathtaking. I have never been drawn to poetry as an art form but this was beautiful. Loved it.
