This series continues to be a delight, but i'm more and more convinced that i'm reading one four volume novel rather than a tetralogy of novels. The middle volumes have essentially no introductory or concluding material and just move smoothly from episode to episode.

In general, Kerish bearing the burden of his task more and more is done well. It's clearly changing him but he also seems like he clearly sees what he needs to hold onto, his own basic goodness. I feel like his relationship with Gidjabolgo is where this comes through the best.

My man Gidjabolgo continues to be great. I hope that the final volume gives us a good payoff of his two volumes of setup.

The addition of Kerish's cousin to the group brings a love triangle (quadrangle if you include the queen of Seld) dynamic, which. Like. It's good that they don't dwell on it more than they do because it is not very strong.

It seems like there's a neat layer of science fantasy behind the pure fantasy, which is fun. I wonder how much more of that will be revealed.

The sorcerers themselves are very interesting to me. They all suck, but they are also all pathetic in their own ways. It's good.
