Carpool Crush by Rachel John

I read I Hated You First previously, a book I also gave 3.5 stars. Carpool Crush is a companion series with people we met in the first installment. Jenny & Noah were working together and connected; when Noah got promoted, he had to move to the branch in California. There are a lot of secrets that keep our main characters, but at the same time, this spark keeps wanting each other.
I like how Noah and the carpool party help Jenny escape her shell and become more assertive and confident. They are there to take the first step and let her fly to get what she deserves in her personal and professional life.
Carpool Crush has many miscommunications, which I don't like when it portrays the central issue of the love birds' conflict. However, I like the connection between Sadie and Denver, who I believe are the couple in the third installment of the series.
This book and series are for you if you want a clean romance. I am looking forward to continuing with Sadie and Denver's love story.

I was bored. It took a whole lot of pages of a whole lot of nothing to get anywhere and once it got there, it wasn’t very interesting. It was fine, and there wasn’t anything bad about it… there just wasn’t anything really good about it either.

I read this series out of order,  I read book three first, then one and then this one- so book two was the third book in the series for me (did you follow that?) The first two I read were adorable with good chemistry and characters (I love Sadie). But so far Carpool Crush is my least favorite of the three. I just didn’t really connect with Jenny and found Noah to be very bland. This book felt like it started in the middle and ended abruptly. On the plus side- the supporting characters are great. On to book four now.
-kissing only
-second chance romance

Reader’s Notes:

– this is book 2 of a series but can be read as a stand-alone (though it is so much better to read the 1st and then this one as we see/hear about some of what happened as it happens in book 1)

– this is told from Jenny and Noah’s points of view

– there is a little bit of innuendo

Review:

This was another really entertaining book by Rachel John! I enjoyed hearing about what was happening in book one and then hearing the full story of what happened from Noah’s point of view in this book. I really liked how the rest of the carpool just kept watching Jenny and Noah to see what was going to happen between them (and even making little bets). I also enjoyed seeing Noah with his brothers and how they would interact with one another (anticipating each other’s moves, poking fun, ect). I also liked that Jenny had the push and pull of wanting to reach out to Noah for things when he first came back, but told herself not to because of how he treated her before he left. But as they started hanging out more, Noah and Jenny grew closer as they had been before which was nice. I thought the scene with both of them hiding under the office table was funny (both before ad after the hiding part).

Jenny is not happy to hear Noah will be returning to her carpool group. He hurt her badly and she doesn’t know if she can forgive him for breaking their friendship and making her think that there could be more between them. But Noah is acting like he wants to be friends again, and is he flirting? Jenny isn’t sure, but she certainly doesn’t want to make the same mistake again in thinking so. She’ll just have to keep him on thin ice until she can determine what she wants to do.

Noah regrets putting work first instead of Jenny. He didn’t realize what he could have had until he blew it. But he’s back anyways and hopes to fix it all. He’s got a plan to do so, starting with rejoining his old carpool group and mending his friendship with Jenny. Then he can think about telling her what happened before he left and how he truly feels about her.

Will Jenny be willing to hear him out? Will they at least become friends once again or will that be ruined beyond repair after Noah tells her?

This one was definitely not high on the enjoyable scale. There wasn't a lot of plot or storyline to go with the plot. The characters were hard to relate to.

This is cute, but boring. The big reveal wasn’t that dramatic. The HEA didn’t feel like anything really happened either.

This was a cute story! The characters were likable even if their flaws bugged me on occasion. The romance between Jenny and Noah was sweet and they made sense together so I was rooting for them to overcome the hang ups of their past.
There wasn’t a lot happening in the story but it moved along at a good pace and I finished it pretty quickly. The carpool setting was fun and unique too!
