This book was as lyrical and gory as the first one, but my memory faded because I read it 4 years ago. I have also read a lot more now, so this rating is a bit more realistic than my first. It was still super easy and quick to read, the action keeping you in the story. However, the ending was lackluster to me and I really wanted it to go differently in many different ways, and I saw one of the plot twists coming from the first foreshadowing of it. None of it was surprising or earth shattering, but I still had a fairly good experience reading it.

I love this world and these characters. There's this mix of darkness and hope that I appreciate. Not a fan of the romance in this one though.

a decent sequel and I think it gives the whole story a really fitting ending. My favorite part is the way that the love interest and her relationship ends off.  In terms of relationships, both this and the first book are heavily about sibling love more so than romantic love and that was refreshing, especially that this one followed with that trend.

overall would recommend, though I think I liked the first book slightly more.
