Look, I’m still not sure how I feel about the writing. Aside from Thor and the surprise guest at the end of this issue, I don’t really feel like anyone is in character.

Aside from Robbie, who I can’t speak to, this dialogue doesn’t seem in line with anything I’ve read for Carol, Jen, Steve or Tony.

Tony is a lot like MCU Tony and not at all like 616, in my opinion. He’s giving tepid one liners that seem like after thoughts. Also, I’m sensing we’ll get no real introspection on how Tony felt about being in a coma here. Fine, he has a solo book but he seems A-ok after going through that.

Cap reads like a mix between everyone’s grandpa and cliff notes on 1960’s Cap comics. One might say: well that sounds about right but here’s the thing, Waid’s comic exists. Waid is currently doing a wonderful series with a Cap that’s in line with the Cap I’ve read from the 1960’s and 90’s. Aaron’s sounds like he paid as much attention to Cap’s character as he did to Tony’s. His lines are all stifled and lack the heart of Captain America.

I haven’t finished Tamaki’s Hulk but this Jen is barely here but the little bit she is, she doesn’t remind me of the Jen I read.

So, this is just... off to me. It’s not terrible but I was expecting to get a book that has the heart of the classic Avengers.

This just isn’t it.
