This one had me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. Any free moment I had to read that is what I did. I tried to play out the twists and turns in my mind and I was shook when the truth came out. I definitely plan to read more by this author!

Loved! Such an unsettling vibe! I love movies/books about DID. So good. Writing. Characters. Plot. Suspense. Mystery. All of it!
Special thanks to the author, St Martins Press and NetGalley for the review copies!
Multiple personality disorders, haven’t heard that theme in awhile have ya? That’s because it takes a special writer to be able to convey the story so well, that it’s believable. Then they have to be able to spin a whole plot around that story and have it all fit perfectly. And that my friends, is what D.J. Palmer did with “The Perfect Daughter”, the story, the characters, everything about this book was sooo good!! I absolutely love a good psychological twist novel, the brain is truly a wild organ and I’m amazed daily by it.
Penny, or actually her alter, Eve has been in a place called Edgewater for the past year awaiting trial for the murder of her birth mother. When psychiatrists try to get to the bottom of the story, different personalities start to come out and weave a tale as old as time. Lies, truths and complete deceit are big themes in this story and it becomes hard to put down.
Truly enjoyed it and definitely recommend. Also, today (April 20), is PUBLICATION day!! Congratulations to D.J. on another awesome read!

(Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.) D.J. Palmer has written another masterpiece! The book was unique in its premise, and there was a lot of suspense throughout. I didn't see the ending coming, which is always a good thing. I rate the book 4.5 to 5 stars.

I'm definitely in the minority here and did not love this one. So if the synopsis sounds good, and you love this author, go get this one.
For me, I just couldn't get in to the story. I didn't like the characters or feel any interest in them and I really struggled with buying off and suspending my disbelief long enough to believe in it all. I found the writing style maybe not to my liking - I didn't like the POV mid paragraph changes. Because of the shifts, the writing always re-states the POV person's name over and over. I think I would have loved this as an audio book but on my kindle, I just struggled. I wish I'd loved it!
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

A riveting book that explores the complex depths of dissasociative identity disorder.
A teen girl, Penny, is found covered in her birth mother's blood, holding the murder weapon, but with no memory of the murder itself. All is not as it appears, because Penny isn't just herself...she is also Chloe. And Eve. And Ruby. Does one of these identities hold the key to unlocking the mystery?
The author has created a deeply rich world for her characters, and you are pulled in from the start. There are big & little twists along the way that keep you guessing right up to the very end.

This book was like a roller coaster....a slow build-up before it dumps you down the hill and leaves your heart pounding not believing what you are reading.
Penny was found in the park by Grace Francone. Grace has two sons from her marriage but always wanted a daughter and when they discover that Penny was left alone and the mother willing to give up her rights to avoid prosecution, she finds this to be the perfect answer to her prayer. What she doesn't expect is to discover that Penny has DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder - or multiple personalities. I'm sure her family didn't know what to make of the various personalities and they mostly just went with the flow and didn't call attention to the alters.
Penny's two brothers have different feelings about her. One adores her and the other dislikes her intensely. I can see why, Grace seems to put a lot of her attention on Penny and when Penny is accused of killing her birth mother, Grace is willing to lose everything to save Penny. This includes the family restaurant and possibly even her family. But I have to admire and appreciate Grace's devotion to Penny and her belief that Penny is innocent. As the events unfold, we will learn what caused the split personalities to emerge and I can't even imagine what horrors Penny observed prior to being found in the park.
This book does move along a bit slower than the last 20% when everything unfolds and we learn the truth. I was quite shocked by the ending and did not expect that to happen. Everything that I believed was turned upside down.
There is one event in the book that turned my stomach tied to animal abuse. While I understand the importance of it to the story and revelations further in the story, it still gave me the heebie jeebies. There are other potential triggers for people including child abuse.
Overall, this was a psychological thriller that left me with a slightly better understanding of DID and how it can impact a family.
We give this 4 1/2 paws up.

A good mystery where teenage Penny is charged with the horrific murder of her birth mother. Her adoptive family supports her and tries to help her lawyer and doctor find answers. The tricky part is that Penny has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and there is the possibility of interacting with the different personalities during each meeting. I learned a lot about DID in this book. A good amount of suspense.
Another great read from DJ Palmer! The Perfect Daughter was a fascinating read for me. I really enjoyed the story of the Francone family and their relarionship with Penny, their adopted daughter/sister throughout her being accused of murder and the trial that occurs. I would say I rate this book three and a half stars. I enjoyed the story but felt as though there was a side story about the psychologist assisting Penny that wasn’t quite meshing with the rest of the story. I also had a small bit of trouble with figuring out whose point of view each chapter was from as they weren’t always clear from the first sentence of each. Overall, a page turner that you’ll probably want to just sit and read in one day.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin Press for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
