A good psychological thriller. I never saw that ending coming. A bit unrealistic that a psychologist in a facility with limited resources could spend so much time treating this one patient while also trying to uncover details of the crime.
dark emotional mysterious tense fast-paced

This is one of those books that left me feeling indifferent. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I did, however, enjoy the subject matter. It was interesting here and there, but overall it just okay.

What I enjoyed: The psychology theme, as they're working with DID, which has always fascinated me. It's probably why I stay the course with the book.

What I didn't enjoy: The big reveal seemed so out of left field, but not in a good way. More of a "oh come on" way. Grace, one of the main characters, comes across as annoying at times. There were so many loose ends that were wrapped up in an unsatisfying way.

Idk… this didn’t hit the mark for me. I had high hopes for this one as reviews were really good. However, this book did not really give me that ‘page turner’ feel of a thriller novel.

Every time I found myself picking up the pace towards climax, the story would come up short if that makes any sense.

Also by the end of the it, where the twist and big reveal was taking place kind of felt too ‘telenovela’ for me so that really disappointed me.

SO GOOD OMG I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH

I was given an ARC for an honest review of this book. It did not disappoint! If I had the time to sit and read the book in one day, I would have gladly accepted the aching back & other body pains willingly. As it was, I was frustrated with the activities (mostly a job I am thankful for in spite of how it sounds) that come with everyday life which were constant interruptions. If you’ve read other books by Mr. Palmer, I’m sure you’ll love this one as much. If you haven’t read his other books, you will after this one. I thought I had it all figured out, but learned of my mistake 96% into the book. The book kept me on my toes and wondering what would happen next.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 this is a murder mystery centered around a character with at least 3 alternate personalities. It was a page turner and I hated to put it down to sleep. I recommend it.

4.5 stars. Very engrossing. Kept me on edge through the novel.

I felt the ending was like a big bow on a package, tied up neatly with a flourish. A bit too neat.
