Great plot twists and extensive research into this story about a teenage daughter with mutiple personality disorder. It would probably make a great movie. I struggled with some of the gory details in the beginning, but enjoyed the different character perspectives of what really happened.
Good family dynamics story with grit.

This book is creepy, disturbing, and utterly addicting. After Grace’s adoptive daughter, Penny, is arrested for brutally murdering her birth mother, Grace embarks on a journey to prove her daughter’s innocence. The problem is she can only do so by showing beyond a doubt that Penny has multiple personalities and therefore cannot be held accountable for the crime. Many books about Dissociative Identity Disorder are cliched and overdone but D.J. Palmer has managed to create a compelling and realistic read. The plot moved in a direction I wasn’t expecting and the twists caught me completely off guard. I also really liked the characters and how the story was told from their differing points of view. Highly recommend!
Holy whiplash! This mystery had me swerving left and right as I tried to figure out what was going to happen. My English teacher background still didn't prepare me for the surprise ending!

Is she Penny? Chloe? Ruby?
Grace Francone discovers a young child in a park, all alone. As she brings this girl into her home, discoveries are made that rattles her whole life as she knew it.
Convoluted is the first descriptor that came to mind. The plot was intricate. There is so much potential in this novel that I felt ran short. Long, run-on sentences and metaphors. I felt like there was a lot of unnecessary conversation in the book that diluted the plot. I didn’t find any of the characters believable, which led me to skim most of it.
The ending did surprise me, but lacked believability.
Thank you very much to St. Martin’s press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4 Stars!
This right here is a super cool adventure into the world of dissociative identity disorder. (DID) Penny the adopted daughter of Grace is accused of murdering her birth mother. She was found at the scene of the crime, covered in blood, with no recollection of what happened.
The entire time you will be on the edge of your seat. Bouncing between the conversations with her doctor, who is unsure of the DID diagnosis to conversations with the defense attorney, who isn't sure of Penny's innocence. You will be chomping at the bit until almost the last page.
I can't wait to check out what else D.J. Palmer has in their library!

This was a very suspenseful thriller about a teen with Dissociative Identity Disorder (better known as multiple personalities). This is something that I have found so interesting in movies/tv/books and this definitely added to my intrigue with the disorder. It also had a nice surprising ending. Highly recommend!

This was a slow burn that honestly disappointed me with the way it ended.
