Much like Mountains Beyond Mountains followed Dr. Paul Farmer's work (co-founder of Partners in Health), Kidder follows Dr. Jim O'Connell and his Street Team crew who attempt to provide medical support and the occasional safe haven to the unhoused population of Boston. There isn't a clear structure to the book, and spoiler, no grand solution to homelessness. However, it is an eye opening look at this community and the challenges they face, and a demonstration by Dr. O'Connell for how to work with people respectfully.
