part ??? of ??? of “this only gets more than 1 star because uhhh sapphics”
where do I begin. WOW. every single character in this is so UNLIKABLE. Mel does not care about anyone, her friends suck, Nick is hilariously one-dimensional, the whole “cast v crew” thing was so STUPID, and Odile was the only one even semi-likable (and I still don’t even know how to say her name).

I loved reading it because it has musical theater and It’s about technical side of theater and i love how the book is divided into 2 acts and intermission and how there’s information pages scattered throughout the book

I have thoroughly enjoyed Ms Talley's historical novels about queer girls, so I was intrigued that she'd turned her hand to a lighter romcom. I liked it very much and would recommend it, but I feel it doesn't carve such a thrillingly unique niche as her previous novels.

At my school, I feel it's the nicest, and sometimes quirkiest, kids who do theater tech and I have a very soft spot for that milieu. So I felt warm towards this story centered on the backstage team for a high school troupe performing Les Miserables, led by stage manager Melody McIntyre.

It's great to have high school queer romances normalized and treated with the same degree of fluffiness as heterosexual ones, and Melody's unabashed, and unremarked on, bisexuality makes her a terrific contemporary protagonist.

I liked the writing but honestly, it wasn't really my thing.
