i told myself when i read the road in grade 12 that it would be the only time. i lied. this graphic novel adaptation was beautifully done, and devastating to read. that’s it, no more versions of the road, please, i beg you.

This book perfectly captured the mood of Cormac McCarthy’s original novel. The art work was absolutely stunning! Highly recommend!

Starting the year off with a graphic novel - I haven't read the original book or watched the movie but Amazon suggested this one as one of the graphic novels I might like - and I loved it. It's a pretty short and bleak story- the pictures and black and dark and the story is equally as dark. We follow a boy and his father as they try to get away from the bad guys -the bad guys catching, enslaving, killing and eating people. This book has some pretty dark and horrifying pictures- at one point we see a group of bad guys and the father and son hide from them - the group also has a pregnant woman with them - they later find an abandoned campsite and a baby roasting on the spit. And they at one point find a group of survivers hiding in a basement begging them to help them - they have to abandon and leave them behind in order to survive. I didn't really care for the ending but the rest of the book was amazing. I actually enjoyed a super dark post apocalyptic story and this book left me with my mouth on the floor at several points. It's a pretty horrifying dark story about surviving in a post apocalyptic world and running away and hiding from the people that you don't know because they could be either good either bad and you don't know until it's too late.
