Well, that was haunting.

The original novel is dark, tragic, and full of the human condition. The graphic novel adaptation captures the atmospheric setting, tone, and struggles of the characters beautifully.

Such wonderful detailed illustration and a very beautiful and depressing story.

It's been a long time since I read the book and wow. What a trip.

Great and dark adaptation. Finished it, looked away from the screen (since it was a digital read on Hoopla for me), and it still feels like a dreary fog is slowly evaporating from my vision.

Bleak and intricately detailed, a visual adaptation loses some of the thematic elements and interiority, but Larcenet's graphic novel interpretation of the novel stays true to the novel, bringing the reader into the barren world of The Road and the characters' grim march toward survival.
