Half of the book was a DETAILED play by play of working for TNO (aka SNL) and the other half was about COVID and the political landscape during COVID. Lol.

I'll admit that even though I'm a bookish elder millennial girlie, this was my first Curtis Sittenfeld. I've been meaning to read her since Eligible but never got around to it. And then she released Rodham and, reader, I was too embarrassed for her to take her seriously after that. Picked this one up because it was being discussed on the One More Chapter podcast.
Romantic Comedy is a cute and mostly average book. It isn't particularly funny which is weird when the first person narrator is a comedy writer for the book's in-universe SNL. I feel like the first part of the book is a bit of slog. It feels like Sittenfeld wanted to show off all the research she did. I think the real problem with this book is that I just didn't care much for Sally and Noah. Neither were overly interesting or endearing and both grated on me by the end.
And also, the performative white feminism or liberalism was really the kind of thing that turned me off to Sittenfeld since Rodham so I was beyond annoyed how much of it was shoe horned here.
All in all, Romantic Comedy was fine, I just don't think I'm the target audience.
