I am a sucker for those running sentences Mr. Baldwin...

The text is so dense it needs several reads, but the points made are gold.

Brilliant!

Baldwin has been getting a lot of press lately so I thought it was finally time that I read him. This is a very good intro to his rhetoric and his style. Short but concise. This reminded me a lot of Between the world and me. Definitely a must read for anyone who wants to know more about the history of race relations in America. This should particularly be read by white people. I look forward to reading more by Baldwin in the future.

All I can say is ... if you're a white or non-black American, you need to read this, along with a whole other list of books.

Baldwin man, I love you so much.

I was introduced to James Baldwin in my AA History class. Although I learned a lot about his life (I believe we watched a documentary on his life) I never read any of his work...until now. His words are smooth and poetic. His ability to express himself, his opinions and the situations he finds himself are exactly how I wish I could.

On the back of the copy I read, there was a review that described his writing like waves in the ocean. I thought it was a perfect description. I recommend to read at least one of his books.
