There's always something about Baldwin's writing that isn't just eye opening, but soul opening too. This was the first time I read his works through audio, and somehow it felt even more profound, leading me to an instant relisten, and I'm even debating a third. The way Baldwin explores his relationship with religion, later leaving it, and highlighting its use as a tool for power while using its essence to frame his beliefs and then retool it to form these essays as well... it was just so thorough and compelling.
