Two beautifully written letters from Baldwin that I had the honor of reading. I got my first taste of Baldwin in I Am Not Your Negro, and then when I read Beale Street, but this was the first in depth piece of non-fiction I've read by him. I appreciate his honesty even when he felt his opinions were unpopular (particularly at that time). I try to imagine what it would have been like to read this back in the 60s. Baldwin was a revolutionary thinker. I can't wait to read more of his work.
