i love when Brontë directly addresses the reader
the romance between Jane and Mr. Rochester is quite complex but engaging. Brontë's portrayal of their relationship challenges societal norms and explores themes of equality and mutual respect.
i love the gothic elements in the novel, as they add a layer of suspense and intrigue - it is very interesting how all of the supernatural encounters have the logical explanation except for Jane and Rochester telepathically communicating. however, i want to know more about bertha and why she acted like that - i also want to know why grace poole tried to kill them.
Brontë's writing is so poetic and vivid - it was such a delight reading the novel; however, some aspects of it feel a bit dated, but that is why it’s a classic.
conclusion: reader, this novel is a must-read.

I absolutely adored Jane's character. She's such a modern character; strong, independent, confident, and unafraid to speak her mind. She's a great model for girls and women. She accepted how she wasn't exactly attractive, but she knew she was smarter than a majority of people. While not my favorite book, it did keep me going and interested. I kept flipping through pages looking for Mr. Rochester. I love how in love they are. While I do love Elizabeth and Darcy, I feel like the love between Jane and Rochester is so much more powerful. Neither of them are good-looking, but they fell in love with each other for personality and wit. Jane and Rochester went through so much more than Elizabeth and Darcy. I still favor Elizabeth and Darcy over Jane and Rochester, but the latter is a close second. It was insane how St. John wanted Jane to enter a loveless, but practical marriage with him. I love how Jane stands up for herself and her ideals on love. Bronte's emphasis on the plainness and lack of beauty of Rochester and Jane only made me like them more. Once again, Jane is a great character. :) Love her.

Not only does Brontë wield such stunning language, but her portrayal of an individualistic woman, in search of her sense of self and experiencing the complexities of love, transcends time (in not all ways, but countless).
It is a slow-moving yet entirely captivating story that has a way of interweaving the feelings of the reader with that of Jane Eyre herself.
