Es el primer libro que leo de Poirot, a diferencia de los de Miss Marple, me encantó la participación más activa del protagonista. El desenlace simplemente no lo ví venir.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first half of this book, and then the revelation happened and now I’m grinning like an idiot and want to reread it again to see everything that I missed. This is everything a good mystery should be, absolutely fantastic.

Overall, a solid Poirot novel. Unfortunately, I did figure out whodunnit ~50 pages in, and therefore spent the entire book picking up on the small hints that Christie left throughout. Despite this, I do think that the mystery was very cleverly conceived. As always, the mystery was intricate and the clues were subtle enough that if someone weren't looking for them, they could be easily missed. That being said, I can't in good conscience give The Murder of Roger Ackroyd any higher of a rating, due simply to the fact that I did figure out the mystery so easily. Unfortunately, the 90 years since its release have allowed for many mystery novels to borrow from it, making it seem less original and clever than it probably was in its time. Based purely on substance, however, this is definitely one of the better Poirot novels and I did really enjoy it.
