this offered a warm yet melancholy hug in book form. sneakily and quietly emotional to the point where i had tears in my eyes by the end without knowing how i got there. there's a fair bit of repetition with the time travel ritual and rules, but the stories are so beautiful i didn't mind much

im not crying, you are. they could never make me hate Kazu
It’s second book of the series. The stories are different and yet there is a continuity of characters and author binds them together to make them connected. The beauty is in how each story impacts the life of other characters in some ways and leaves behind a simple message.
The repetition of the plot and sameness of action of going in the past can be boring but simple messages keep you going and in the beautifully come together.

☕️ Tales From the Cafe by Toshikazu Kwaguchi ☕️
⭐️ 3.25 ⭐️ The second novel in Kwaguchi’s Before the Coffee Gets Cold series. I read the first novel a few years ago, and it imprinted on me. 💙 Tales From the Cafe brings us to this magical realism cafe where finding peace and acceptance with grief or regret are at the forefront of the story. 🌸 While a beautiful read, I didn’t connect with the storylines as much this time. 🕰️ But, I am still looking forward to whenever I pick up the third book of the series, and learn more about the loveable characters who make up the heart of the cafe. This series is perfect for anyone who craves deeply emotional reads, and a sense of etherealism. ☕️ Perfect for cuddling up with a cup of coffee on a lazy weekend morning ☀️
