REVIEW OF THE CLINIC (SPOILERS)

  • ending was kinda meh, i was left a little confused about the state of the case after dr. delaware interviews muscadine. im not sure if that means that muscadine would get a reduced sentence… also i know that dr. cruvic left(?) but id like to see him get brought to justice too
  • i liked the lead up to the finale though and i liked the way the investigation unfolded, especially the chapters before casey locking’s murder was revealed. i liked the student interviews
  • liked this one better than the last jonathan kellerman book i read
  • classic weird way of describing people, and it almost always kinda throws me off when i think im used to it

A well written mystery. Was not impressed with excessive language or sexual theme. Not one I would recommend.

Typically I enjoy the Delaware series, but I felt this one was a little too full of cliches. The characters were too easy to read, as usually it's a bit more difficult to work out "whodunnit".

Pretty good book. I think this may be the first thriller/mystery novel I've read where the person attempting to solve the crime is a psychologist. (Or at the least, the first one I can recall ever having read.) It made the story more interesting to read, but it didn't make it any easier for me to figure out the murderer's identity before it was revealed in the book.

I'll rate this one at 3 stars... the ending left a wee bit to be desired. It ended just a little too soon for me, leaving a couple of semi-loose ends that (in my opinion) should have been tied up and not left partially undone.

Interesting old-skool detective, where A LOT of work had to be done to find the murderer. Because of that it feels both slow- as fast-paced, because the writing style kept you going when you still didn't know a thing. I enjoy these older mystery detectives a lot, once in a while, and even though this one is officially part of a series, books like these can be easily written either out of order or as stand-alones because they are more plot-driven than character-driven.

Detective Milo Sturgis has a cold case - a psychologist has been gruesomely murdered in the street near her home - so he asks psychologist Alex Delaware to assist him on the case. Why was Hope Devane targeted? Is the husband guilty? Could the killing be linked to the university where hope taught, was it because of the book she'd recently written or was it simply a random killing? Milo and Alex discover a lot of secrets Hope was keeping but which one led to her death? Another enjoyable read in the Alex Delaware series.

Was ok. A bit too much dialogue used to tell the story. Would have benefited from more narrative.
