As I read this I found myself inspired by Nesta and wanting to be like her so much it got me going to the gym again, I fear it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever be able to walk 10,000 stairs with my non fae knees and human asthma but I still want to try my best to be open and love my family and be a sick Valkyrie.

Never read a book before that explores rage brought on by intense grief so well. I know Nesta is an easy character to hate. It's easier to write her "behavior" off as annoying and bratty, but it was obvious to me from the beginning that she was hurting. Hurt people can be nasty. Constantly grasping for something to feel, even if it's hatred. I loved her character development, though I care a lot less about the relationships in this series once they get mated because it's essentially over atp. Just a lot of fucking and being sweet to each other in an annoying way that's unbearable.

This was the best book in the series for me by far. The themes of mental health across the series come to an epic close in A Court of Silver Flames, and I believe the audience is truly the better for getting to experience that growth with Nesta and the whole Night Court family. Things that would have made it five stars:
1. Less sex. I’m not even against spice in books if it develops the relationship, but this was truly just TOO MUCH. 2. Redemption for Lucien!!! He deserves so much more than what he has gotten thus far. 3. Growth for Tamlin. I hate that he is still stuck in his pain at the conclusion of this book though I do recognize that not everyone reaches healing in their lifetime. A girl can still dream haha
Overall, ACOSF gave me a better perspective for the whole series and the relationships within.

I enjoyed this book but second comments that the series should have been a trilogy and this seen as a spin off. I don’t like changing protagonists and would have loved to see things through Freya’s eyes even just for some chapters - I’m happy for  Nesta to have chapters too.
That said, the character development was solid in this book. In re-read I’ve decided I really like it and can see how she is setting up another trilogy
